  • Michael J. Small
    President and CEO
    Michael J. Small, President and Chief Executive Officer, Director, has served as Gogo’s President and Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the Board since February 2010. Mr. Small joined Gogo with over 30 years of experience in the communications industry. Previously, from January 1999 until November 2009, Mr. Small served as the Chief Executive Officer and Director of then-public Centennial Communications Corporation, a regional telecom service provider. From 1995 to 1998, Mr. Small served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of 360 Degrees Communications Company. Prior to 1995, he served as President of Lynch Corporation, a diversified acquisition-oriented company with operations in telecommunications, manufacturing and transportation services. Mr. Small has also served on the Board of Directors of First Midwest Bancorp. since 2010, and previously served on the Board of Directors of Centennial Communications from 1999 to 2009. Mr. Small holds a B.A. from Colgate University and received his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

  • Norman Smagley
    Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
    Norman Smagley, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, has served as Gogo’s Chief Financial Officer since September 2010. Mr. Smagley brings 18 years of experience as a chief financial officer for both public and private companies across many industries, including technology, financial services, pharmaceutical, retail, industrial and publishing companies. Most recently, Mr. Smagley served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Rand McNally, a publisher of maps, atlases and other reference materials, from May 2002 to March 2010. Mr. Smagley received both his B.A. in Economics and Master’s Degree in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

  • Anand Chari
    Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
    Anand Chari, Executive Vice President and Chief Technical Officer, joined Aircell, Inc. in 2003 as a consultant. From July 2006 to July 2011, he served as Vice President of Engineering. In July 2011, he became Gogo’s Chief Technical Officer and Senior Vice President, Engineering. He brings over 20 years of experience in the wireless communications and telecom industry to this position. Prior to joining Aircell in 2003, Mr. Chari founded and served as President of Simma Technologies Inc., a technology and management consulting company. He also served as Vice President of Sales and Business Development at ISCO International, Director of Business Development at 3Com, Director of Advanced Technology at Ameritech, and Manager at Telephone and Data Systems. Mr. Chari received his B.S. in Electronics and Communications Engineering from National Institutes of Technology, Trichy, India and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from University of Chicago and a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Iowa State University.

    Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
    John Wade, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, joined Gogo in November 2008. Prior to joining Gogo, Mr. Wade served as Chief Technical Officer and General Manager of in-flight mobile phone and internet provider OnAir, from February 2005 to November 2008. Mr. Wade has more than 20 years of experience in the avionics and in-flight communications industries, having also held positions at in-flight internet and connectivity services provider Tenzing Communications, as well as PRIMEX Aerospace Company and GEC Marconi In-Flight Systems. Mr. Wade received a First Class B Engineering Honors Degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Brighton, U.K

  • Marguerite M. Elias
    Executive Vice President and General Counsel
    Marguerite M. Elias, Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, joined Gogo in September 2007. Previously, from June 2004 until July 2007, Ms. Elias served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of eCollege.com, a publicly traded provider of outsourced eLearning solutions where she was responsible for all legal and compliance issues, managed the human resources function and was a member of senior management. Ms. Elias was in private practice for 15 years at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and Katten Muchin Rosenman, where she specialized in federal securities law, corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions. Since 2007, Ms. Elias has served on the board of directors of Datamark, Inc. Ms. Elias is a member of the American Law Institute. Ms. Elias received a B.A. in Economics from Northwestern University and a J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law.

  • Jonathan B. Cobin
    Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer
    Jonathan B. Cobin, Executive Vice President, Global Airline Group, joined Gogo in April 2010. From September 2003 to January 2010, Mr. Cobin was employed by Centennial Communications, a regional telecom service provider, principally in the role of Vice President Strategic Planning. Previously, Mr. Cobin held positions of increasing responsibility as a strategy consultant at Dean & Company and also worked in the investment banking group at J.P. Morgan. Mr. Cobin received his B.A. from Dartmouth College and M.B.A from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

  • Arbela Takhsh
    Senior Vice President of Quality
    Arbela Takhsh joined Gogo in April 2014 as Gogo’s senior vice president of Quality. Arbela is responsible for the global quality strategy and implementation of Gogo’s network and services. Prior to joining Gogo, Arbela was with Comcast National Engineering & Technical Operations where she was VP, Quality Assurance. In that role, Arbela was responsible for quality assurance processes, metrics, data analytics, and continuous improvements initiatives. In addition, Arbela led the business wide Lean Center of Excellence. Prior to her transition to Comcast, Arbela held the position of Head of Quality Management Office at Motorola Mobility, a Google company. In that role, Arbela and her organization were responsible for global quality management systems, product ship approvals for major US and international carriers, and customer experience improvement plans. Arbela has extensive experience in successful collaborations across business, engineering, operations, supply chain and customer account functions. Arbela Takhsh has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Temple University, and an MBA degree from Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University. Arbela is also a certified Six Sigma Black Belt.

  • Karen Jackson
    Senior Vice President of Human Resources

    Karen Jackson joined Gogo in 2015 as senior vice president of Human Resources. Ms. Jackson is responsible for overseeing talent strategy and the HR function as Gogo’s organization continues to grow on a global scale.

    Prior to joining Gogo, Karen was with Accenture and served as the senior vice president of human resources for Acquity Group, a leading Digital Marketing and eCommerce services company acquired by Accenture in 2013. In this role, Karen was responsible for the company’s vison and talent strategy to support Acquity Group as it evolved from a start-up through its initial public offering and, ultimately, to the acquisition by Accenture.

    Karen started her post-graduate career as a consultant before moving into roles in operations, corporate strategy and human relations.

    Karen has a BS in Accounting from the University of Illinois and her MBA from the Fuqua School at Duke University. Karen is also a certified public accountant and holds her professional HR certification.

  • Sergio Aguirre
    General Manager

    Sergio Aguirre, general manager for Gogo’s Business Aviation division, joined Gogo in 2007. Prior to joining Gogo, Mr. Aguirre served as director of OEM and aftermarket sales for Securaplane, helping to pioneer the installation of exterior cameras on corporate aviation aircraft. He served in a similar capacity for Airshow in the late 1990s where he was part of the team that launched the first Ku TV system. From 1989-1996 Mr. Aguirre served as an aircraft completions mechanic and customer account manager for Gulfstream Aerospace where he was involved in the first installations of Inmarst systems on Gulfstream aircraft. From 1984-1988 Mr. Aguirre served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft structural mechanic and worked on F-111s and H1N helicopters. Mr. Aguirre attended Orange Coast College, and graduated from Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program, and has an FAA airframe and power plant license.
