Michele Coleman Mayes is an accomplished legal and governance executive who brings nearly 50 years of corporate governance, regulatory and legal leadership experience to the Gogo board, where she serves as a member of the Compensation Committee and the Chair of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.

Ms. Mayes is the former VP, General Counsel and Secretary for the New York Public Library (NYPL), where she served from 2012 to 2024. Prior to that, she served as EVP and General Counsel for Allstate Insurance Company from 2007, and as SVP and General Counsel of Pitney Bowes Inc from 2003 to 2007, following senior legal roles at Colgate-Palmolive, Unisys Corporation and Burroughs Corporation. She began her career in the U.S. Department of Justice, serving as an Assistant United States Attorney in Detroit and Brooklyn from 1976 to 1982, rising to become Chief of the Civil Division in Detroit.

Ms. Mayes has served on the Board of Brookfield Wealth Solutions Ltd. (NYSE: BNT) since 2023 and has chaired the Board of the Center for Reproductive Rights since 2020. She previously served as a director of Assurant, Inc. from 2004 to 2007, where she chaired the Nominating and Governance Committee, and has been a non-director member of Exelon Corporation’s Special Litigation Committee since 2021.

Ms. Mayes received a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.A. from the University of Michigan.
